Charlie: Although I don’t like the outside of the house, I’ve long-wondered what an exposed (to light, if not air) basement like this would look like from the inside. These are some good shots of it. I would like to see more airflow down there. As a bonus, though, if you look in the upper-right photo, you can see that the basement area extends vertically through the house, with windows looking down into it. I guess the house is essentially a square donut around a central “courtyard”? That’s actually pretty cool.
