If you keep things simple to begin with, you don’t need complex tools to manage it.

Useful for stripping HTML out of inputs. Rails plugin.
Information Architects Japan (iA) just revamped their site. I think they’re my favorite designers working on the web. Their work is stellar.
Unfortunately, the site’s a bit buggy, so I can’t comment or contact them. Hopefully their Google Alert will show them this post, and they’ll know they have a fan who appreciates their work.
Notes on RESTful app development.
A list of IE-specific hacks. I’m wary of using hacks, but these might be good to know about down the road.
Andrea is a polymath. That means she knows how to do a lot of things. Like make cookies. Or raise kittens. Or budget.
Andrea just posted a review of PearBudget. She gets it:
think of it as budgeting 2.0- a free service (while it is still in beta, at least) where you can upload all your receipts and compare them to your budget. for the first few months, when you still don’t really understand where your money goes, your preliminary budget will be way off, but as you continue to…
Apologies to everyone who had been subscribed to the old PearBudget blog. It took us a while to get the new one up and running, and we’re honestly not sure if you’ll be automatically signed up through FeedBurner or not. So if you were subscribed before please consider signing up again.
We’ll be posting a bunch of things to the blog … mainly news, reviews, testimonials, tutorials, and good questions that users send in.
Stay tuned …
It’s fitting that busy moms and dads would find PearBudget useful … because it was built by a busy mom and dad! Sarah and I have three little ones of our own, so we know what it’s like to have to plan ahead even when you feel like you’re already behind.
Absolutely love the simplicity of this software. Thank you so much,
very busy mom of 3,

Got a great note from an accounting major, now with a non-profit:
Just wanted to write a quick note saying that I signed up for PearBudget a few minutes ago on a whim and think that it is phenomenal! The graphics are clean, the concept is easy and intuitive. I’m an accounting major, a pretty good one at that, and quicken and some of the other programs have always been a little overwhelming - and not to mention expensive.
Working for a non-profit this year, budgeting has become an essential…

H1:before {content: “Chapter ” counter(chapter) “. “;counter-increment: chapter; /* Add 1 to chapter */}
H1{counter-reset: section}
H2:before{content: counter(chapter) “.” counter(section) ” “;counter-increment: section}
Using the content property to assign numbers to non-numbered elements.

div p:before { content: counter(listnum); counter-increment: listnum; }
Turning text upside down, ajaxically.

Finally unsick enough that I can make progress. Working on the blog, despite the dire need to work on Ruby code. Hopefully this’ll be quick.
Curious if this works.
“PDF Hammer is a website that allows you to edit your PDF files online for free. You don’t need to install any additional software, you can edit PDF documents right now inside your browser.”
Great piece from Brant about sheltering your kids: “Childhood has it’s own seasons, its own rhythm, its own implicit modesties, and, if allowed, its own sweet, and more real, charms.” “If you don’t shelter your kids, you’re a traitor.”
“Hand-picked by the editors of HBR, these articles will show you how to get more done, lead more effectively, and leverage your own unique strengths.”
